Sormiou : the beautiful calanque in the south of Marseille

Famous for rock climbing, Sormiou is the widest Calanque in Marseille, 800m long and 600m wide.
Its main feature being the numerous small houses where fishermen settled down from 1894 and established a small fishing port. Houses have neither running water, nor electricity.
The access by road is well hidden, as if the inhabitants had wanted to protect this little piece of paradise.

A dive spot and a movie set

When you visiting Sormiou by the sea you will quickly realize the beauty of this Mediterranean coast.
Framed and separated from the cove of Morgiou by two peninsulas formed by the crest of Sormiou on one side and the Morgiou crest on the other, Sormiou is very popular with locals, tourists but also and especially by divers !
The turquoise blue water of the cove shelters splendid seabed very appreciated by the divers. The flora, for its part, preserved in its original state is often used as a movie set. For example, the film "La French" with Jean Dujardin and Gilles Lelouche.
