Morgiou and Sugiton: both magical creeks of Marseille

Morgiou and Sugiton are true mineral and aquatic paradises sheltered from any habitation. Only accessible by a marked trail to discover the fauna and flora of the mountains, these two creeks are located in the heart of the 9th district of Marseille.
The preserved nature of these Mediterranean jewels attracts thousands of hikers and boaters each year dreaming of discovering these exceptional creeks.

Morgiou : a beautiful calanque in Marseille

Smaller than his neighbor Sormiou, Morgiou is however very similar: the same orientation, the same situation at the end of the valley and the same beautiful bank.
It was in this small fishing port (XVth century) we celebrated a visit from the king with a traditional tuna fishing event called madrague.
37m under Morgiou Cape we find the prehistoric cave Cosquer, discovered in 1985. It is covered with rock paintings dating back 27 000 years. The site was inhabited because at that period it was 150m below sea level.

Calanque de Sugiton: the naturist twin of Morgiou

Near the university campus of Marseille Luminy is the pretty calanque of Sugiton.
Its waters from emerald to turquoise are within the reach of brave hikers and boats. 10 meters from the shore is the rocky island called the Torpedo or "Swan" is also one of the features of recognition of this beautiful creek in the district of Redon.
A little further, after the Torpedo, the Fallen Rocks (or fallen stones) often host the most desolate local naturists.
